Eye & Contact Lens Factsheets
DAILY DISPOSABLE / WEEKLY
/ MONTHLY REPLACEMENT / YEARLY LENSES
Often people come to us with set
ideas about lens wear usually based upon hearsay,
biased advertising or advice based upon friends
experiences - this is dangerous since, as we have
said every case IS different!
HOW DO YOU WANT TO WEAR LENSES
--- ALL DAY EVERY DAY, TO SLEEP IN AS WELL OR
JUST OCASIONALLY, SAY SOCIALLY OR FOR SPORTS?
We take into account your individual
needs but try not to be mislead by the general
descriptions of lens types and mode of wear. For
example, some people think that if they only want
to wear lenses occasionally daily throw away lenses
will be best but this is often not so.
Daily disposable lenses might
not suit your tear chemistry or correct your vision
correctly and can in some instances prove more
expensive than other alternatives.
CARE REGIMES -- THE CLEANING
AND DISINFECTION OF LENSES.
Some patients believe that daily
or regular disposal of lenses must be safer and
more hygienic than wearing the same lenses for
up to a year or more.
In reality this is certainly not
the case. No matter what lenses you are fitted
with, the lenses will leave their storage container
properly disinfected.
If you wear daily throwaway lenses
they will be sterile on removal from their pack.
If you are using lenses which have been worn previously,
whether for days or even months, they also will
be completely disinfected, usually having been
stored overnight in a very simple to use 'All
in One' soaking, cleaning and disinfecting solution.
Long gone is the tedium of lengthy nightly and
special weekly cleaning procedures.
Between the container and the
eye there is just as much risk of the lenses being
contaminated regardless of whether they are 'brand
new' or have been worn before!
Cleaning is a hassle! Even the
laziest wearer who is always in a rush will admit
that caring for lenses today is no longer the
tedious drag it used to be! Especially so if you
wear lenses constantly for 30 days without removal!
SO WHAT'S BEST?
SIMPLY, with our experience and
vast array of lens choices, that's where specialisation
comes into it's own. Even so sometimes our first
choice doesn't produce the very best results but
we've always got lots of other choices to fall
back on - THAT'S WHAT'S
CALLED SPECIALISATION!
