HARMONY® Plus+Lenses
BACKGROUND
The earliest Contact Lenses designed in the 1880’s were blown from glass and covered the whole eye – known as scleral or haptic lenses. Fitting completely under the eyelids they were comfortable but often could only be worn for short periods because they starved the eye of its vital supply of oxygen. Today, made in oxygen permeable plastics we still fit scleral lenses for specialist purposes.
Rigid Oxygen Permeable Lenses (RGP’s), conventionally about 9.5 mm across, fit between the eyelids. Today they are vastly more comfortable to wear than the earlier non-oxygen permeable Hard Lenses and are still the first choice for millions World Wide. They don’t however offer such a high level of initial comfort as Soft Lenses and some people are unable to tolerate them.

The Contact Lens Practice has fitted virtually every type of lens available since Geoff Wilson opened his practice in 1973. He conducts clinical trials on many new lenses. In 1973 he was one of the 10 specialists World Wide selected to trial PERMALENS, the first sleep in Soft Lens.
Geoff Wilson designed the Proclear Toric Lens for BioCompatibles in 1994 which has American FDA approval and is now fitted by Contact Lens Specialists in many Countries.
One thing Geoff has always known is that the more he increased the size of a rigid lens the greater the comfort but this reduced the oxygen getting to the eye so there were often other drawbacks.
Our new range of HARMONY Plus+Lenses are unique designs made in highly oxygen permeable flexible materials which are considerably larger than conventional Rigid Oxygen Permeable Lenses, but much smaller than Soft Lenses. They correct any error of sight including astigmatism, kerataconus and can be made as varifocals for the over 40’s!
HARMONYR Plus+Lenses give superior comfort to any Rigid Lens, vision better than any Soft Lens and can even be slept in by many!
